The Ramayana Secret

By Anurag Chandra

Genre: Mythological Fiction

Rating: 3/5 stars.

“The prosperity of a nation should never be measured by the success of the richest but that of the poorest.”

A brief retelling of the epic Ramayana, this book begins with the king of Agartha, the civilization inside the Earth trying to establish connection with the outer Earth civilization. The civilization of Agartha came into existence aeons before the outer world civilization. Hence, they were well developed and advanced than the outer world civilization.

The divine scripts were handed over the outer world’s knowledgable sages to spread the valuable information to the entire world through their teachings. Both the civilizations were coexisting peacefully until the scripts were in his custody.

This was when the Agartha ruler arranged a meeting with Dasharatha and planned to send Rama to the outer world to defeat Ravana. The story continues as Rama goes onto the quest to vanquish Ravana.

Who was Sita? Was she the real reason why Rama fought Ravana? Why was she abducted? Do what we think about the characters exactly the same?

The book has left me in awe with the beautiful explanation of an alternate version of Ramayana altogether. The entire story is so amazingly written that it covers the entire Ramayana in these few pages and yet, is feasibly convincing. What I liked the most about this book is that the author has paid attention to the character development of the lead roles. The sub plots and the short backstories added here and there did keep the book fast paced. Language was easy and fluent. Though, I felt the narration could have been better, I would definitely recommend this book to almost everyone irrespective of the genre you like because who doesn’t want to know the real story behind Ramayana? If you haven’t read this book yet, make this page-turner your next read.
