” Not now – I can stand before her only when I become a person with whom she could share her dreams, her worries and ambitions. As a friend. As an equal. Not as a pity project. “

Aniket was in the first year of his college – Art history Majors. We all remember the first times of everything – first day at school,  first camping trip with friends, first date, first time we scored hundred in in maths and all that. But for Aniket, taking drug for the first time was a bit of a hazy memory.

The “cool” gang had thrown a party,  and Aniket, along with Mira, had managed to get two invites. That was the first time he had tasted cocaine. It was bliss. The world became hazy, dreamy. He felt like a Superman who could do anything. That was when he felt that bliss for him were the drugs which could take him to oblivion – A bliss of oblivion.

As days passed, Aniket’s performance started to skid down. He was constantly performing worse than the previous time. All that ever mattered to him now was cocaine – the bliss of oblivion.

One day, as he was high, he took up his paintbrush and filled the canvas in his room with strokes and colours. When he was back to normal, he realised that it was the best painting that he had drawn till date. The painting received huge appreciation.
